| I am a Southwest studies librarian, archivist, and public services specialist at the Center for Southwest Research, the location of the Tony Hillerman Papers and many of his published works. I am Algonquin on the Canadian side of my family. My specializations include Native American archives and the 20th/21st century inter-disciplinary Southwest. I am currently a Vice Chair/Chair Elect of the Native American Archives Roundtable of the Society of American Archivists, as well as a member of the Society's Diversity Committee. I hold a Masters of Library & Information Science degree with an archives concentration from the University of Texas at Austin, and am a member of the Academy of Certified Archivists. I was first introduced to Hillerman's stories as an undergraduate Southwest Studies major at Colorado College, and find that I continue to meet Hillerman fans everywhere I go. I encourage readers to branch out into the works of Navajo authors and poets including Luci Tapahonso, Sherman Bitsui and others. As a purveyor of books, I shouldn't admit it, but I especially enjoy the PBS film renditions of Hillerman's work with Native actors Wes Studi and Adam Beach. | |
